Alandale Foundation Trust
Alandale Village is situated at Flagstaff in Hamilton. It consists of 133 independent villas and 10 serviced apartments, with approximately 190 residents. The village is administered by the Alandale Foundation Trust Board, incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act. Alandale is also registered as a Charity under the Charities Act.
The Board owns the land on which the central Club complex of the village is situated and operates the village under Alandale Lifecare Ltd. The Trustees are appointed by the residents and include both resident and non-resident trustees.
Residents consider they are in a unique position in that they each have their own Unit Title which gives them a degree of independence. They also have a large input into the management of their Village with an Advisory Committee of Residents who meet monthly with the Manager of the Village. There is also a monthly meeting of all residents, chaired by the Advisory Committee and to which the Manager reports.
Market surveys show four reasons for a preference for community living – companionship; personal and financial security; access to healthcare and emergency assistance; and access to service and amenities. The four of these combine to create the concept of “lifestyle” on which Alandale is based. |
