October 11th - Prime Minister, Hon. John Key visits Alandale
As a kick off to the Prime Ministers Election Campaign, a visit to Hamilton and Alandale was on his "To Do" list. After his address to the residents he enjoyed a couple of shots on our fabulous Snooker Tables, followed by a cup of tea and and one of our famous "Peanut Brownies"!

September 2011 - Formal Opening of the Alandale Snooker Room
Our 100 year old Snooker Tables (originally from The Hamilton Club), were proudly shown off at the formal opening of the Snooker Room. NZ Ranked No.1 Snooker player Steve Robertson was in attendance, showing off his skills in an exhibition game for the residents and inivited guests. Steve commented that in his opinion they were the "best tables he had played on in New Zealand"!

March 2011 The Great Pumpkin Carnival
Alandale Residents entered into the Recycled Teenagers competition and excelled with wins in the heaviest pumpkin under 200kg, most perfect pumpkin and best miniture.
We also came first in Best carved, 1st & 2nd for Best decorated, Best named creation and 1st for Best poem.

Food Services Award "Winner"
Each year businesses are visited and evulated against strict criteria. The Alandale kitchen has won a Food Safety Award for the past two years since being registered with the Council.
April 2010 - Maggie Barry Visits Alandale
Alandale residents won the privilege of sharing "high tea" with Maggie Barry. The competition was sponsored by Bay Audilogy and was open to members of the Retirement Villages Association throughout New Zealand.
The residents were asked to state in 50 words or less why they deserved to have Maggie Barry visit the village. Overall 21 entries were submitted by residents.

March 2010
Our Head Gardener and one of our Residents, recently gained third place in the Open Class Heaviest Pumpkin Competition, organised by the Friends of Hamilton Gardens. The pumpkin weighed in at 70.1kgs
